SAMIRA ALY
Cello / Electric Cello / String Arrangement
As a classically trained orchestral musician, Samira has performed and recorded with the Essen Philharmonic and the NDR Radiophilharmonie. She has toured throughout Europe with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, and worked in the Malaysian Philharmonic. Samira has shared the stage with Sting, German Hip Hop Legends Die Fantastischen Vier, and Udo Lindenberg.

Samira studied in Hannover, Münster and Essen, and was a member of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now program. In 2013 she received a stipend from the Rotary Club Essen to study at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where she completed her Masters degree in Professional Performance.
Since moving to Berlin, Samira expanded her playing beyond the classical world to become a versatile and multifaceted musician. Her groups, she plays cello and MissesGOLD, for which she is both a founder and arranger, play musical styles from classical to covers of pop, jazz standards, and soul. In her solo performances she uses effects and live loops to create the sound of an entire cello ensemble.
Samira’s cello playing can be heard on albums released by Universal, with artists such as Mic Donet and Tochter, and by Warner Chappell with composer Sebastian Pecznik. She has collaborated with many Berlin-based musicians, and has recorded with artists from the genres of rock, pop, singer-songwriter, jazz, chanson and film music.
